Danilo Garcia Di Meo – What?

What? – Danilo Garcia Di Meo

Ambra was diagnosed with deafness when she was two. She like drawing, playing sports and reading. She accepted, with some difficulty, her condition. She didn’t like feeling different and not liking herself, “I looked in the mirror, I didn’t like myself, I could only see defects”.

She had a relationship with a violent man who humiliated her: “The first few months went well, then he began to insult me, and more than once I was full of bruises on the neck, then slaps, punches, kicks “.

She knows the kick boxing. She had a lot of anger to dig out: “I wanted to learn how to defend myself from attack if I ever met another situation of violence”.

She gets rid of the man who mistreats her.

It is a real rebirth for her. She finally begins taking care of herself, she acquires a healthy way of life and the victories gratify her. She got rid of the label of deaf person condemned to no accepting herself That she had put herself on.

She also discovers another passion: techno music, with low vibration and it involves her deeply.

She doesn’t consider herself strange or different, from a certain stereotype: “I don’t give much importance to deafness. I feel like any other able-bodied person, I see myself just like everybody else. With my abilities and my limits.”

Ambra, today, is happy and satisfied. She embarked on a path of awareness and autonomy encountering obstacles that have forged her resilience even for the “defects” being a woman, being deaf andpracticing a martial art.

With the new year she got a surgery to hear more thanks to a cochlear implant in the deafest ear. She turned it on during a techno party, expecting to hear the same way as usual. From that night She’s not the same person, she felt new emotions and she was very happy.
